On June 27th, Birds & Batteries celebrated the local release of their new album, I'll Never Sleep Again to a capacity audience. They hit the road in August and concluded their summer tour with a packed show at the prestigious Great American Music Hall with string and horn sections in tow. They've since completed their second national tour with their strongest lineup yet (Mike Sempert, Brian Michelson on drums, Julie Thomasson on keys and Jill Heinke on bass) and will continue to tour through the spring. For their SXSW debut, they hope to have some special guests aboard as well. I'll Never Sleep Again was on the CMJ charts for five weeks in a row, was featured on NPR.org and has been hailed by critics nationwide. Equal parts explosive pop and epic balladry, four-on-the-floor beats and lonesome Americana, I'll Never Sleep Again is yet another step down a path of
genre-defying music.
